TC Gold Strike, chestnut 23 year old half-Arabian, and TC Silver Sabre, gray 24 year old purebred Arabian, are the last of a breeder’s legacy. In August, 2023, Safe Harbor volunteers responded to the call from the only home they have ever known, to intake these senior gentleman to a foster 2 hours away from their birthplace with the hope of giving them a new forever.
These horses are pure class, handle like you hope every horse you train will do and remember. They loaded like pros and arrived without a hair turned in sweat - especially amazing knowing that Gold Strike had not been hauled in 20 years.
Silver is 'retired' from endurance riding and survived a severe lung infection two years ago which left him with some internal scarring. He would still be happy to ride someone around if it were not for some arthritis in his right hind. Gold Strike is said to be safe for the grandkids but has been a pet for the past 5 years and likewise has some arthritis from old injuries that leave him best suited for lead line or short under-saddle walks.
Because these horses have been together their entire lives and they have soundness limitations, we have chosen to sanctuary them, ensuring their safety for the remainder of their earthly time.
We are actively seeking a foster for them that would allow us to host up to 6 volunteer orientations per year, and ideally with the desire to assist us with a few outreach events throughout the year. Silver and Gold are also available for sponsorship at any level, from $5 per month up to $150 per month. Sponsors at the $150 level have the opportunity to meet and visit their sponsored horse.
