Some additional information about us:
We do not charge an intake fee.
We do request that vaccinations, Coggins and farrier care are up-to-date, and would appreciate copies of radiographs or other diagnostics, if applicable.
We are able to accept horses as we have appropriate foster space for them. We almost always have a waiting list, so be sure to indicate your time frame.
We are located in northern Middle Tennessee; our volunteers are generally willing and able to transport within 200 miles, but we appreciate any coordination on this aspect of intake.
By donating your horse to Safe Harbor, you may be eligible for a tax deduction. We are a 501(c)3 Tennessee non-profit, FEIN #46-3564050. Please consult your tax professional for details.
We have a “track record” of placing Standardbreds - over the past 4 years of involvement with the breed, we have placed more than 30 retired racers and ex-Amish Standardbreds into new homes.
