Breed: Quarter Horse; 14.3HH
Age: Approx 10
Scarlet was purchased by a family that adopted several horses from Safe Harbor, but due to a personal family situation they are unable to continue with horse ownership, and have asked us to assist with rehoming Scarlet for them. This red headed mare has extensive training, and has done flat work and jumping with children and adults as well as trail riding. She looks like perfection–and she can be perfection with a rider, but there’s some significant fine print as follows:
Scarlet was once suspected of having head shaking syndrome, and when she was acting symptomatic of this she would buck, and exhibit light sensitivity. She was treated via chiropractic and acupuncture 2 years ago, and has not shown any symptoms since – but she has only done leadline rides in that time. She was fully vetted by our rescue vet in December 2018, who cleared her medically for performance riding, but as we know she had a prior issue, we want her adopter to know that an issue may exist. We welcome anyone to talk to her veterinarian, and of course to get a pre-purchase exam for any concerns. Scarlet was last ridden three years ago, and last lead-lined a child more than a year ago.
While the photos shown are of Scarlet being ridden by children in her prior home, we highly recommend a thorough veterinary and training assessment for this horse prior to riding. She is being rehomed as a courtesy post with a requested $250 donation to Safe Harbor. If interested in Scarlet, please complete our adoption application.
Scarlet is up to date on shots, Coggins, wellness, and farrier care.
