At age 33, Lucia is our next-oldest sanctuary resident. A registered Paso Fino mare, Lucy joined Safe Harbor as part of a large neglect case in Robertson County involving a herd of Pasos. She had likely been a broodmare her entire life and not trained to ride.
Lucy is extremely sweet and passive. She is pony-size and needs to share her pasture with other quiet horses or ponies.
**As of September, 2019, Lucy’s current sanctuary foster is selling her farm. This means that Lucy needs a new sanctuary home. She has typical senior horse needs – she needs shelter from weather extremes and she cannot chew hay. She does fine on summer pasture, but in the fall and winter, she requires soaked alfalfa pellets (or cubes) 2-3 times per day.
If you would like to be Lucia’s “last home,” please fill out our foster application today.
If you cannot foster but would like to sponsor Lucia’s care costs, you may do so at any amount here.
