Safe Harbor Success Stories – Adopted January 2020
Liberty is lovely brown and white spotted saddle horse mare that was professionally started under saddle by Rockin B Ranch in Springfield, TN. This video is her about 2 weeks into training. More current video is here. She’s been ridden around cattle, through water, alone and following another horse. She has continued her training in her foster home, but she is still GREEN and needs a rider who can finish her training, or an owner willing to invest in more time with a professional.
Liberty is vet-aged at 10 years old and stands 13.1 and a half hands. Liberty loves people and is easy to handle on the ground. She is good for the vet and a patient farrier; she has fantastic feet and is comfortable barefoot. She is up to date on vaccines and Coggins (April, 2019), and was recently adjusted by the chiropractor.
Liberty originally came to Safe Harbor as an owner surrender in our early months of operation more than 5 years ago, and as such she does not have registration papers. Her foster chose to adopt her but due to some life changes, Liberty has returned to find her perfect home.
Liberty’s perfect match is a trail rider who can finish a horse with a solid start. She would be fine following other horses down the trail with a confident intermediate-experienced child rider, provided an adult would be available to keep her “tuned up.” With her nice gait, she could potentially be shown in local shows, as well. She does gait in-hand and is pretty enough to show in halter.
**Please Note – Liberty’s size as listed is accurate – she is large-pony size with a size 00 foot. This dictates that she needs a rider who weighs less than approx. 145 pounds, and likely is no taller than 5’6.
