Beautiful Astoria came to us through Macon County Animal Control. She was found starving, a BCS 1, with two deceased horses sharing her dirt lot. For a time, we were unsure if she would survive.
Astoria is in her mid-20s and is looking for a companion home. She was likely broke to ride earlier in her life, as she is easy to handle and enjoys interaction with people. She may be OK, with your veterinarian’s approval, to lead children around on her back or take a short walk around your farm, but her days of more strenuous activities are over. She runs and plays with her pasture companion, but she does have some arthritis typical of age and mild heaves (similar to human asthma). She is not currently on any special medications or supplements and is a fairly easy keeper for her age.
This lovely lady would love a green pasture to live out her golden years. She gets along fine with mares or geldings and is easy to handle (leads/loads/ties/etc). Astoria is available for a donation of the adopter’s choosing. Fill out an Adoption Application and add some class and color to your farm!
